minifloras & bareroot roses

Question
1. I recently planted several minifloras. The amount of sunlight was stated as min of several hours(not min of 6 hrs), mornings best. I planted in full sun light, is this going to be a problem?

2. When to start feeding bare-root roses? I thought I read, but can not now find, to start once any growth appears. Many of the bare-roots I planted already had growth. So, should I start feeding right away?

Answer
Roses do best in 6 hours of full sunshine but in less, tend to struggle. So full sun would be ideal. Once you see the rose starting to leaf out just sprinkle any rose fertilizer all around the base and water it in. Then in the end of July give the roses one last feeding as minis don't need a large amount of food to do well. If you get a cold winter, end of July feeding will give them time to harden off their canes for winter. However if your winter is a warm one, end of August will be fine as it will allow them to rest a little and roses always do much better if not encouraged to constantly grow.
