Brenda,

I'm not looking for plants for the winter season thats impossible what I  am looking for is a garden that blooms from spring until fall I have alot of spring plants but my garden dies off to soon.  I have an area that requires shade plants and an area that requires sun.  Thanks Brenda

Answer
Brenda,

Thanks for clearing that up. Late bloomers are far easier than Winter bloomers! Here are ideas for plants that bloom in the late part of the growing season:

Agastache
Anemone
Aster
Buddleia
Caryopteris
Cimicifuga
Eupatorium
Geranium (the hardy ones, not the red flowerbox one)
Heliopsis
Nicotiana
Rudbeckia
Solidago
Zinnia

Also, please look at ornamental grasses. They're the backbone of my autumn garden. A couple of years ago, there were lots of new black grasses that are interesting. I have a couple of blood grasses, some silver ones, and a silly striped zebra grass that's fun. I also grew colored sorghum last year and that was colorful and interesting into the first snows. I know the grasses seem pretty weird to people still, but they really do add a lot of interest in the fall.

Look up some of these plants and see what looks good to you.  I'm not exactly sure what your zone is, but I was thinking of things that should be hardy around Zone 3. I hope this helps you out!

Good luck!
