Help! Need info on how to divide Hostas--when, how, THX

Hostas are the most eaasily dividable plant.  They are all forgiving!

Wait until the hosta are about 6 inches in height and not in full leaf.  Just take a shovel and press it with your foot-you may have to really shove- and dig out a hunk.  Go down deep enough that you get the whole bulbs.  If you want to divide this clump further-just cut into pieces, remembering that each must have part of the bulb.  They will grow almost anywhere!

I hve divided them later with a lot of success also.  I would not divide them past June or into the fall.  Spring is the ideal time.
