Sedum

Question
My garden seems to be taken over by my sedum. I never remember planting as many as appear now.  How do I thin them so I still get some?  Is there a way to take cuttings so that I can move some to other places?  Mine are so big, I have to use supports so they don't fall over!

Answer
Hi Kristine,
Thanx for your question.  If you want to thin your sedum, you can dig them up as clumps any time now and move them or discard them to the compost pile if you have too much.  No need to take cuttings when you can dig these up as clumps with no problem.  They do have a tendency to get top heavy and fall over.  Eventually, mine do too.  You can dig up the clumps with a pitch fork or a spade.  Give the clumps a good soaking after you dig them up.  You can also wait until spring when they first come up if you can't do it now. I hope this helps.
Tom
