Endless Summer Hydrangea

Question
I took some cuttings last fall, and overwintered inside. They did well until recently. Now leaves are turning brown and plant is not thriving. We are in cental Newfoundland, which is zone 4.Can I plant them outside if I cover them if we get frost?... and we probably will.

Answer
Sharon,
What is happening is a natural progression of a plant.  I assume you have it in a pot--is the pot big enough??  Until the threat of frost is gone you might want to transplant it into a larger pot nad take it outside during the warmth of the day and back in again if there is going to be a freeze.  Be very careful with the roots--they are very fragile at this point.  When you transplant-try to keep them intact.

a "very light" dose of fertilizer wouldn't hurt either!
