My Clematis bloomed very beautifully in the early summer, it looks like is dying now.  I did sprinkle a couple of handfuls of Preen Weed Preventer around the root area and watered it in..Could this have hurt it?

Dear Patty,
 I doubt if the Preen did anything.  Clematic goes through phases.  Be sure to water frequently and mulch around the base, it does NOT like getting hot!  You can snip off the spent blooms thus putting more energy into the new blooms.
