Frozen Gardenia

Question
Help! Tuesday, I purchased a potted gardenia, good healthy foliage and tight
buds, and a hyacinth, not yet in full bloom, and set them outside planning on
planting them in nice containers this weekend, and we had an unexpected
freeze two nights ago, dropping to 18 degrees. I wasnt able to bring the poor
things inside until the following morning when I got home from work, and
the gardenia looked a little shriveled, but not really bad, and the hyacinth
looked ok, but by the next day, the hyacinth was drooped over and wilted,
and the gardenia was SHRIVELED horribly, brown, brittle, looks like its been
through a fire or something. Is there any possibility of saving either of these
plants, or should i just toss them out?

Answer
Hi Jessica,
Thanx for your question.  The hyacinth is probably history and it sounds like the gardenia is too however, I would keep them indoors in a sunny window and a nice warm room.  Keep them both moist but well drained.  Only time will tell if they are able to snap out of it or n not.  I hope this helps.
Tom
