Gardenia Question

Question
I live in Pennsylvania and just got a gardenia for my birthday.  I want to try to keep it as a house plant.  All of my windows have heater vents close to them so I tried to pick a spot where it will get enough light and not be blasted by the vents.  My question is, I know they like humidity so I was going to bring it into the bathroom when someone's taking a shower,so how many times a week should I don this?

Answer
Hi Megan,
Thanx for your question.  This really belongs in the Houseplant category.  You can access that forum viat Home/Garden, Gardening and then Houseplants.  It looks like one of the experts is on vacation and the other is maxed out on questions.  But, I think I can answer this for you.  You can place the plant in its pot on top of a large tray filled with pebbles and water.  The water will keep humidity around the plant and the pebbles will help keep the pot from sitting in water and the bottom staying soggy.  You can also place another dish of water down by the vent to add more humidity.  This should be enough.  If you would spritz the plant too, a couple times a day, that would be better than trying to take it into the bathroom evey time someone takes a shower.  I hope this helps.
Tom
