How to help an injured Oriental Stargazer Lily

Question
Hi Tom,

How are you?  Here is my issue.  My Stargazer bulbs were coming up beautifully, then while I was showing my little niece the first shoots, she got excited and accidentally stepped on one of them.  It was barely coming up from the ground at the time, maybe about 1 inch off the ground.  Now other new shoots are outgrowing the injured one.  Some of the leaves were bent, but I didn't think it was injured badly, since my niece is only 40 lbs.  Now the leaves are falling off one by one gradually and I'm afraid it will die off.  The tip of the shoot looks like it is about to fall off.  It has shown some growth since the accident but very slow, and I don't know if it will grow to its full potential now.  Is there anything I can do to boost its energy and have it make a comeback?  I see it as my little baby that I need to save.  If there's anything I can do, please help.

Thanks,

Lynn

Answer
Hi Lynn,
I'm fine and I hope you are doing well too.  Thanx for your question.  Depending upon how old your bulbs are, more than one shoot may come up.  Your niece stepped on one shoot and it may or may not come back.  There's really nothing you can do at this point.  If the shoot was strong enough, it will eventually recover (as they often do) or it will die off and a new one will come forth.  Either way, I doubt if there was any damage to the main bulb and a new shoot should be emerging now or soon.  I hope this helps.
Tom
