creeping phlox - fungus disease

Question
If the creeping phlox is turning brown because of a fungus due to cool and wet weather -- how does that affect the long term pronosis of the phlox.  Does it need to be dug up or will it come back next year?

Answer
Hi Susan,
The best thing to do right now, is prune back the plants and remove the dead growth.  Sometimes, just the top is dead, but the roots are still alive.  Fungus doesn't always kill back the entire plant.  Then, apply a fungicide according to the instructions on the label of the container.  Safer Brand Garden Fungicide, Bi-Carb Old Fashioned Fungicide, Bonide, just to name a few Organic controls.  Consult with your local nursery or garden center.  I hope this helps.
Tom
