Dear Sir/Madam.

I am trying to purchase an unusual orchid for a gift for my father. My father has experience with growing orchids and we would like one for his birthday which is next week. I am willing to spend upto ?5.00 and would be grateful for your advice on this matter. Which type would you recommend and where would be the best palce to purchase one from in your opinion?

Unfortunately, I am not sure if I can help you locate a place in which you can purchase an orchid plant for your father.  Why?  You did not mention where you live although I believe it may be England since you did state you were willing to spend upwards of ?5.00.  If you live in England and depending upon where in England will determine if there may be an orchid nursery near your home.  

I would suggest you look at the American Orchid Society (AOS) web site (http://www.theaos.org) to find an orchid nursery in England near you.  There may be other nurseries in England than are listed since the list includes only those which are members of that organization.  

I hope you find an orchid nursery near your home and able to find an orchid plant for your father's birthday.  When choosing an orchid plant, be sure to tell the nursery where your father lives and a general description of where he might grow it.  This can be especially important if he does not have a greenhouse in which to grow it, but grows it within his home.  Orchids are very much like people, they have preferences for where and how they live and if they are not happy they will not grow and bloom very well.  

While I am sorry I was not able to help you, I hope you are able to find a suitable nursery near you.  If you are unable to find a nursery or what you are looking for, please write back and I will explore some other web sites for additional sources.
