Phals -where to place in the winter

Question
We live in southwestern CT.  The winters are harsh.   I've has phals before that failed miserably in the winter.  I'd like to know if a bathroom would be a good place all winter?  Do they need sun at anytime? At what temp should the room be? They have thrived nicely on my 3 season porch all summer, producing more flowers on a new branch (not up the the slag). I would appreciate you help.
Thanx,
Pat

Answer
The best location, if you have it, is an east facing window where the plants can get some morning sunlight.  The plants should be far enough back from the window to minimize the colder air next to the winter window.  Supplemental lighting from a plant light for 12-13 hours per day may help.  Use of a pebble tray is helpful to maintain humidity.  Phals prefer temperatures of 65- 85 degrees. Slight air movement near the plants will help to provide more uniform mixing of air.  The bathroom is good for humidity but the other conditions are also important.
