pests on my house plants

Question
Hi,
I have several house plants that are infected with a very small fly like bug, i think its some sort of mite. I would like to know how to get rid of these pests for good.  It seems everytime I water my plants they pop back up again. Please help me. Thank you, Robin

Answer
Hi Robin,

I need a little better description.

Fungus gnats look like black gnats and fly about, often when the soil is disturbed.

Springtails jump out of the soil when the soil is disturbed.

Spider mites don't fly and attach themselves to the undersides of leaves.

Tell me which of these you think you have or let me know if it is none of the above. After I have an ID, then I can tell you how to treat them.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
