branching off of my Peace Lilly

Question
Hi Will. I have a wonderful Peace Lilly. I would like to know if I can remove part of the one I have and repot the removed part to start another one? I notice that it might seem fairly easy to do since the roots seem to be in groups, or clumps, but I want to ensure that this will be safe for it, and if so, that I am going to do it properly. Thank you so much for your valuable time!

Answer
Hi Melanie,

Yes, you can divide your Peace lily, but it is a risky procedure because you are cutting roots and repotting a plant that does not like to have its roots disturbed.

If you are happy with your plant, I do not recommend dividing (or even repotting) it. If you have a really compelling reason to do it and are willing to accept the risk of losing the plant, then give it a try. If you want further information on how to do it, let me know.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
