thank you for confirming that....

Question
thank you for confirming that.  i had never heard of plants
being a negative thing in the house, so it will be nice to just
leave your answer around the house in various spots so her
family can find out, accidently, whats going on.  i am going
to send you photos of the plants however so as you may be
able to help me in their life and maintenance.  tomorrow.
as to the safety of southern mexico:  my idea is that 'places'
are never dangerous, situations are.  i come from a small
city in saskatchewan canada, and when i moved to toronto
my parents were of course worried because of the big city
and the potential danger therein.  my wife and i live in
coatzacoalcos, on the gulf, though not a tourist destination
at all, there is nothing in mexico i have seen that made me
nervous or apprehensive yet, except walking downtown
mexico city.  but those were my own insecurities with a new
foreign city of such size and reputation.  the way of life
here appeals to me.  i am a poet and my wife a
photographer so the lifestyle and the economy of mexico
suits us perfectly.  that and the fact that its minus thirty in
saskatchewan in winter and winter here rarely drops below
plus twenty.  there are great places along the gulf coast
going west from the yucatan that are incredible, the people
generous and hospitable, and are a great experience
outside of an all inclusive resort there.  campeche.  ciudad
del carmen.  merida.  veracruz city.  puebla.  give it a try.
will send photos soon.  thanks again for clearing the matter
outright.

sincerely
sk

Answer
Steve,

Thanks for your advice on Mexico. I am printing that for my husband to read. We live in northern Indiana and it has been cold here this winter, not minus 30 but it has been down around 0 a lot and that's bad enough. I here Mexico calling me.  If you were coming there for the first time where would you go?

I will watch for your photos and identify your plants and give you my best advice as to their care. Please tell me how close to windows you have them and what direction that window faces. Also tell me what size (diameter) pot they came in and what size (diameter) pot you transplanted them into.

Also do you have pets or children? If so I will let you know if any are poisonous.

I have a 35 year old son who is a professional wildlife photographer along with being in the Air Force. He just recently had a few of his photos used as magazine cover shots. He will be retiring from the Air Force in about 8 years so then he can be a full time photographer.

I'll watch for your photos tomorrow.

Darlene
