best water for indoor green plants

Question
What is the best type of water for a large indoor plant? Filtered or distilled water ? We are in a hard water area and have filtered water on our kitchen tap. My large Dracaena has drying tips.

Answer
Hi Tress,
Beyond a doubt distilled water is best for plants. Filtered water helps with hard water problems but most filters do not remove the fluoride found in most tap water. A lot of plants, especially Dracaenas, are sensitive to fluoride. It causes edges and tips to turn brown. Chlorine causes problems for many plants and is also not entirely removed by most filters.
I always recommend using distilled water for regular watering, propagating in water and for misting.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
