Insects in Massangeana Dracena

Question
I bought a corn plant at my local home depot and neglected to look at the soil.  It seems the soil was infested with alot of bugs that are about a half and inch to an inch long, they look like millipedes (but aren't) and crawl very quickly through the soil and the carpeted area.  Would you have any idea what they are?

Answer
Hi Jim,
Without a picture of the insect I really couldn't tell you what it is exactly.
I would recommend that you repot the plant into fresh soil. Be sure to remove all of the old soil from the roots. You should rinse off the whole plant, including the roots with lukewarm water to wash off any eggs or insects that may be hiding there.
Since the insects are crawling on the carpet you are going to need to also spray the entire area with a home insect spray.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need additional information please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
Tracy
