Identifying and caring for plant

Question
I have two plants that I need help in the proper care. I have a Janet Craig Cane and a Yucca Cane. The Janet Craig is dead on the top and  bottom, it looks like a tree at the bottom, but when the leaves dye it forms like overlapping hard stems, the sprout in the middle and I don't know if I should cut the middle part and replant. The Yucca just needs to be repotted and need to know what kind of soil is needed.

Answer
Hello Derven,

To save the Janet Craig cane your best bet would be to take a cane cutting from a healthy part of the stem. The link below can explain how to do this in better detail than I could. The section on cane cuttings is a little more than halfway down the page.

Yuccas aren't very picky about soil as long as it抯 well drained. So just take your pick of potting soils and mix in a healthy amount of perlite, vermiculite, bark, or aquarium gravel.

Good Luck,
Justin
