27 year old yucca

Question
ive just went and picked up 2 of my fathers yucca plants from one of his businesses where the people running it didnt take care of them! almost all the leaves are gone and they are pretty pittifull looking. but i want to save them, i remember them when i was a baby and i want to get them back to that condition. im not sure what is the best way to accomplish this..i dont even know where to start!! ahhh! should i cut off the stem and replant or should i cut off the leaves and put them in water or should i just repot the whole thing and water and feed it???? please help...for now ive just watered them and stuck them outside in the sun.

Answer
H Kiera,

Without seeing a photo, it is hard for me to say what your Yuccas need. Can you email a photo to me at [email protected]?

The leaves will not root in water; only healthy stem cuttings. Repotting will cause more harm than good. Pruning may be in order, but I will need to see more to know.

Do get it out of the outside direct sun or you will burn it up!
