Corn plants- Brown leaves at stem/tip

Question
Mr Creed, I have 2 corn plants bought them last fall from home depot,3 for $10. A 10" pot, never repotted them, water every week or until an inch or so of soil is completely dry(don't feel any moisture when i stick my finger into it. plants are facing to the east at the balcony with curtain infront (see pic).  i thought that it might get more light than in the house. Moved into a new place about~1month.
At first the plants seem to do very well much better than the last place. Leaves have more light/dark color. but now after a month the leaves near the stem turns brown. and the tip of some leaves becomes brown also see pic (cornplant1) also some stems appears weak see(pic Cornplant1 (2)) is it too heavy on top? New leaves are thin compared to the old ones and overall the leaves appear like its dropping downwards. Doesn't look like what i seen on the internet. And the 3 one is there any way to resurrect it? it doesn't seem to absorb water any more. Pictures are sent to [email protected] Thank you very much for helping.

Answer
Hi Sherwin,

Thanks for the photos. Your corn plants get lots of light in their new location. I am guessing more than in their old location and probably more than they need.

I suspect that the soil has gotten too dried out and, like a dry sponge, is no longer absorbing water. As a result the plants are dehydrated.

The best thing to do is to sit the plant in several inches of warm water for about an hour. This will allow the soil to wick up the water through the drainage holes and re-wet the soil. Then press the soil down tight around the inside edges of the pot.

For the future, water your corn plants when the top half-inch of soil is dry. Also, make sure there is no direct sun falling directly onto the leaves at any time during the day.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions. I
