repotting asparagus ferns

Question
I have an asparagus fern that needs repotting. what do I do with all the little tubers in the bottom of the pot? do I throw them away or repot them or leave them in there or what?

Answer
Hi Bonnie,

If you were root pruning so that you could return the plant to its original pot, then it would make sense to remove the tubers. But if you are moving it into a larger pot, then there is no reason to remove them. Just be sure to loosen the roots around the outer portion of the rootball so they better integrate into the fresh soil that you add.

I have written an article on repotting that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who emails a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
