fiscus plants and insects

Question
I take my fiscus plants outdoors for the summer and they love it, however, this summer they got small, black and long in shape, inescts on new leafs.  I have tried picking off the infected leaves, but as soon as the new leafs appear, so do the bugs.  I need to take the plant indoors asap, but I don't want to take the bugs, too.

Answer
Teresa,

The insects are aphids. Put some rubbing alcohol in a bottle and spray the leaves of the tree well every other day for a week. Mae sure you get the fronts and backs of all the leaves. That will kill the aphids and any other insects in the tree. Also next time you water it if you mix rubbing alcohol with the water half and half it will kill any insects in the soil and it will not harm the tree roots. You can even use the rubbing alcohol after you have moved it indoors and it will not hurt your air because it evaporates so quickly. Good luck.
