Rubber Tree Roots

Question
I purchased a rubber tree that had what looked like many, many roots dried out above soil at the base of the tree.  What do you do with them.  Is it okay to just cut them off?  Should  I cover them with dirt?

Answer
Lady Day,
If the pot seems lie it is not very full of soil I would add more soil and cover them up but if it seems to have plenty of soil I would just prune them off. I am curious about your name, my mother's maiden name was Day. Is Day your name or just a computer handle? Are you into genealogy by chance?  Just curious. Good luck with the rubber trees.
