Indian Jasmine

Question
Hello Darlene!  I bought a lovely Indian Jasmine plant because of it's wonderful fragrance.  How should I care for it?  Right now, it's sitting outside, getting about 2 hours of western sun a day.  I live in zone 6, so I know I would need to bring it indoors during the fall.  How often does it need water?  What kind of soil/fertilizer?  Can I propogate by stem cuttings?  Thanks for your help!

Answer
Milly,

The Belle of India Jasmine is a controllable vining shrub. It needs some pruning to keep a bushy shape. You may keep it up to 3-4 ft tall. It is a moderate
grower in full sun to semi-shade so your 2 hours of western sun a day is fine.   Moderate water, keep soil slightly moist, being careful not to overwater. Water whenever the top two inches of soil is dry but do not allow it to sit with water in the drain tray. It has strong Double 1" flower with long narrow petals. It will bloom year around but mostly in summer.  light green paired leaves, requires pruning for nice shape. Makes a great Jasmine tea.It has a Controllable, compact shape. Standard potting soil is fine with extra perlite added for good drainage. Yes you can propogate by stem cuttings. Fertilize with Miracle Grow. Good luck.

Darlene
