spider plant cuttings

Question
Hello Darlene,
Thanks for taking the time to help. I am a volunteer in one of the other ask the expert catagories (stamp collecting), and with houseplants, I am totally out of my element.
This may sound stupid but if one does not know , then one must ask!   I have a very large spider plant outside which has been shooting off long stalks and "bibies and the end of the stalk.
Right now, I am am trying to transition the plant to indoors from being on the deck all summer.
I want to make cuttings and start potting new plants. Do I cut the long stalk and plant that below the soil in the new pot? or, Do I snip the "baby" at the end of the long stalk and plant that in well drained soil to that just the base nub is in the soil? or, do I try and divide the larger spider plant into smaller ones? (which kind of defeats the purpose to my way of thinking.
Can you help? I know little about houseplants but am trying to learn.
Thanks for your time. I look forward to your answer.
Terry

Answer
Terry,

This is an easy one, snip the "babies" at the end of the long stalk and plant them in well drained soil (2 parts potting soil mixed with 1 part of perlite) so that just the base nub is in the soil. They will quickly grow roots and fill a new pot making a beautiful new plant for your home. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.

Darlene
