Yucca overwatered

Question
My housesitter overwatered my Yucca plant over six months ago. I have trimmed the dead leaves and re-potted it in new soil, trying to remove some of the root rot. I did this over four months ago and the plant is far from recovered. The stems seems okay and there is some foliage but not a lot of new growth and fairly sparse in general. Is there anything I can do?

Answer
Dear Barbara,

It sounds to me as if you have done all you could possibly do and your plant obviously needs quite a long convalescent period.  Did you allow the root ball to dry out before you re-potted it? As you say there is not a lot of new growth I assume there is some new growth and that is good.

When you re-potted your plant in new soil there would have been enough nutrients in the soil for several weeks but I think it is time to restart feeding and hopefully this will encourage more growth.  I hope that before not too long it will be looking healthier.

Good Luck

Diana
