PEACELILLY

Question
i have a peace lilly from my aunties funeral on 11/26/2010. i keep it in low lighting almost in the dark cause it's  a closet plant. about 2 wks ago it went droopy. i repotted it cause it was in the funeral (small) pot into a larger pot, gave it plenty of water. i have recently put it in a warmer part of the house and cut back almost half of the plant cause they were really bbrown. now the foliage is back up to a nice size, the dirt is moist but i have yellow with brown still in some leaves. please help i dont want to loose the entire plant. what do i do now?

Answer
Denise,

A Peace Lily is not a "closet Plant". There is no plant that will survive in a location that is not bright enough for your hand to make a shadow. Move your plant to a location that is bright and sunny but 18 inches away from the window and it will be better. Also do not leaave waater sitting in the drain tray ever. Empty it right after you water it. Letting it sit with water in the drain tray rots the roots. Leave the drapes and blinds open. Aloow it o dry out well between waterings. Then it hould perk up. Good luck.
