overwatered plants

Question
I was given a plant arrangement in a basket with a plastic liner. It had 7 different plants I know one was a small ivy, one is a philodendron? and one was azalea it died and the ivy died. They both looked like they dried out but when I went to water them the plastic liner was full of water so they are WAY over watered, I dumped out the water and the remaining plants smell foul. They are still in good condition should I repot them or allow them to dry out some? not sure how to salvage them?

Answer
Hi Jan,
I will need to know what plants you have that are left. The constant wet soil has caused the roots to rot. Some plants, like the ivy and philodendron are easy to re-root but I will need to know what the others are to figure out the best way to try to save them. A picture would help.
