berries on umbrella plant

Question
my umbrella plant that i have had for 12 yrs has suddenly flowered and produced purple looking berries,is this normal?

Answer
Hi Michelle,

It is unusual for indoor Scheffleras to flower and produce berries, but not rare enough to be put in the Guinness Book of Records! It means you have had your Schefflera a long time and have provided good care including not repotting too frequently. Pat yourself on your back and keep doing what you have been doing all along.

I have written an article on Schefflera care that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
