cyanea - care of


Question
Hello, I have a cyanea and I have not been watering it, instead I mist it thoroughly every second day, it is thriving, is this the correct way to water it ( I was surprised at this method as it is planted in soil???)

You are doing the right thing...Keep up the good work...It is not actually planted in a regular potting mix...
Cyanea is a Genus of flowering plants native to Hawaii...It contains more than 50 species, ranging in size from shrubs to tall palm-like trees over 10 meters tall...Most are epiphytic (grow on trees and not in soil) but will grow in a good soil mix (orchid mix) made mainly of bark (as do most epiphytic plants)...similar to Bromeliads...sometimes called air plants...They actually receive their nutrients and water from rainfall in the tropics...
