citronella mosquito plant

Question
i planted them in 10 inch pot the larger one and mircle grow potting soil, it's doing great. but the small ones in 3 inch pots i planted the same way and they are starting to get limp and water doesn't even help them. They turn gray just under the the top and i pinch it off. But it's still happening could it be they are not getting enough sun or is it a pest of some kind.

Answer
Hi Janit,

This is a type of scented Geranium. The symptoms you describe are indicative of root rot and possibly inadequate light.

When you move small plants into large planters and add lots of soil, the extra soil retains moisture for a long time and causes the roots to rot. When that happens, the roots are unable to absorb water so the plant wilts even though the soil is plenty wet. Root rot is usually fatal. There is no remedy other than allowing the soil to dry out properly.

Geraniums not only require soil that dries out quickly, but also lots of direct sunlight when grown indoors. You didn't mention how much light you have provided, so I cannot say whether that is part of the problem.
