the pill and Dong qui tea by Yogi

Question
I have been on the low dose pill for six years for painful ovulation. It is starting to stop working for me. I also have poor function adrenals. I am looking to try the Dong Qui Tea from Yogi. Will this work for me even if I am on the pill? Should I go off the pill to get the benefits of the tea? Should I stay with the tea and slowly go off the pill. I have used the pill purposly for nine months not to have a cycle.

Answer
Dear Nicole,

Poor adrenals function may be pointing to hormonal issue in your condition.  Are you referring to painful menstruation when you mentioned "painful ovulation?"
When you refer to "the pill" are you talking about the birth control pill? I will make an assumption that the "birth control pill" which you have taken for 6 years for the "painful menstruation" has stopped helping you.  The birth control pill alters and manipulate the hormones in your reproductive system.  Perhaps, your body build a tolerance to it and has stopped responding.  Please consult a medical doctor on this issue.

As for the Dong Qui Tea, it may help you.  Dong Qui or Dang Gui is an herb that help tonify or strengthen the blood.  It it usually used by Acupuncturist or Chinese herbalist in their formulas to treat menstruation conditions.

For find out if Dong Qui is appropriate for your condition, I recommend for you to visit an Acupuncturist or Chinese herbalist to find the exact cause of your condition in order to prescribe the appropriate herbs.

I hope this help.

Sincerely,

Dr. Man Tran
