Immunity

Question
Hi David,

I've been researching medicinal mushrooms-products like Rainbow Light's Immuno-Build, Mushroom Wisdom Maitake D-Fraction and New Chapter's Host Defense (which has 16 mushrooms synergistically blended). But I'm not quite sure what the correct way is to approach immunity. I've heard you shouldn't take a mushroom product all the time. That one should alternate them with other immune herbs like Astragalus and Olive Leaf. For instance, maybe 1 week taking Astragalus, 1 week taking Olive Leaf and 1 week on a mushroom product before starting over. But others say just take a mushroom product daily as one does with other supplements.

From a maintenance standpoint, is there a correct approach, in your opinion? It seems to me that a good mushroom supplement like the three above should be sufficient to keep one's immunity strong. I'm not sure why one would have to alternate with other supplements like Astragalus and Olive Leaf. Maybe by sticking with one, it would loose it's effectiveness??

If you are not too busy, I would appreciate your objective opinion-thanks.

Answer
Hi Dan.  I apologize.  I had answered this question earlier and my computer blinked and lost it.

My postion is I think it is a good idea to switch out for a week now and then. In fact I do that frequently with herbs and amino acids I take regularly.  Its good to rest from the mushrooms for a week now and then.  and that is a good time to try something else in its place.  I know of no reason it would be a porblem to continue taking them but it gives your body to do what it wants to do and to adjust without the influence of a specific supplement every day.  I think its a good idea, bt go right back to taking them if you feel it helps you.

I hope this answer is helpful.

Have a great day!

David
