St.Johns Wort

Question
I just found a whole field of Hypericum gentianoides, which is a species of St. John's Wort. It is not the common species that is used in medicine, but it grows wild here. I was wondering if you know if the plant has the same properties as Common St. John's Wort. There is not much about it on the internet. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Debbie.  You raise a very interesting question.  I am sorry I am not able to geve you a definitive answer.  All I have been abel to find is the hypercum gentianoides is commonly know as orange greass, pine grass or pine weed and may be used as an ornamental plant.

I love to find medicinal uses for plants and I do use a number of herbs regulary in my daily diet.  Thank you for asking your question.  If you would like to discuss herbs as diet supplements I would welcome the opportunity.  I always like to make new friends who are interested in herbs.

David
