Basil plant

Question
my sis gave me a basil plant and I'm making sure that it gets plenty of sunlight and water it every few of days, however I'm noticing that though its growing nicely and smells beautifully some leaves are starting to die. Some have black, brown, or yellow spots on them. I am new to the whole gardening thing so i have no clue what this means or what to do or not do. Please help. Thanking you in advanced. Tanya

Answer
Tanya Joy:
It may be a few things. Too much water, change to twice a week if no rain. It should get good air circulation and receive the morning sun first. Feed an organic fertilizer if you can or reduce the regular fertilizer by 1/3. The fertilizer can be too strong too. Feed every 3 weeks and prune it at the same time by 1/3 on each branch. Start at the top of each branch down.
