rosemary come back?

Question
I have a rosemary topiary in a plastic pot that went unwater on the porch until all its leaves turned brown and would fall at the touch. In an attempt to save it, i brushed all the brown leaves off (all the leaves of the plant)in hopes that it would give room for new leaves to come back. I just thought of putting the the ground and out of the pot-which i will do later. Do you think it will be able to come back. I think i heard that rosemaries dont grow their leaves back like that, just new branches. Some advice please.

Answer
Rosemary is an evergreen so if the leaves are brown it is not likely to come back.  To check for any sign of life, using your fingernail scratch the bark on a branch and see if there is any bit of green just under the bark.  If you don't see any go down a bit further and try again.  If you still don't see any go lower down on the plant.  Any green would mean there is some life. If you don't see any then it is dead.
