Cedar conifers

Question
A large cedar conifer about 1 meter from the house foundation and leaning away from the house. i am very worried about how much damage it may cause to the foundations and if it is advisable to cut the tree down to prevent any damage.

Answer
Cedar will not give any problems as far as the roots cracking the foundation. Now all tree roots seek water and if there is a problem with water seeping from the foundation roots may enter cracks that the water is coming from. But in normal situations there should not be a problem. NOW IF a wind storm blows the tree over the up rooting may cause problems with the foundation. Since this is a large tree it has with stood many wind storms and should be ok. This may not be a real direct answer but is about all I could do without seeing the tree and the location.
