I dont know whats wrong with my venus fly trap. What do i do?

i have just bought my first Venus fly trap and it sits in a plastic pot with a tray under it half full of tap water. the outside temperature range is about 41 degrees Fahrenheit to 68 degrees Fahrenheit at night and its is get blacks traps but new ones are growing so what do i do is it dying is it frost burnt or going into its winter stages?? please help as i don't want to lose it and im
looking at getting more.

Hi Mitch,

From your description, it seems your plant is preparing for winter dormancy.  Just as trees drop their leaves for winter, flytraps do the same.  It's not at all unusual to see blackened leaves at this time of the year.  As the weather cools even further, growth will cease all together and your plant will be completely dormant.  This will occur after a series of nighttime frost and an average daytime temperature of about 45癋.  For now keep your plant in a very sunny location, or as much sun as the fall weather will allow.  (I assume you have your plant in full sun.)
