vft growth

Question
hi,
i have a vft that i was almost certain was dead during the last few months. i had to skip its dormancy because of when i purchased it and i wasn't able to keep it outside since i was still in college.  over the months until may i was actually quite certain it was dying and then eventually did die.  or no active growth so i dug it up and the bulb was still sturdy and strong. so when i got home i put it outside in full sun just to see what would happen... low and behold it started growing again! but strangely it is growing many traps. far to many for what is normally shown in pictures and such.  and they are all very small.  what is going on here?

Answer
Hi Andrew,

This is a very common occurrence.  What has happened is that growing tip has rotted out and the plant is developing shoots on other parts of the rhizome.  It's almost like doing leaf cuttings.  Just take care of it the way you normally would for a flytrap and give it time.  You'll get a nice bunch of plants that way.

Good Growing!
