Cephalotus Follicularis growth rate

Question
How much time does it uusually take for a pitcher to form on this plant (not during dormancy)?  I want some kind of reference to see if my plant is growing properly.

Answer
Hi Taylor,

Under good summer growing conditions (warm days, cool nights) a new pitcher will develop in about 3 weeks.  Keep in mind, however, there are quite a few variables in play here.  Those would include light, watering, insect captures, and temperatures.  The most rapid growth I've seen on Cephalotus has been when they've been growing in a larger terrarium with fluorescent lights.  The top was partially open so not to have excessive humidity, and it was located in a part of the house that wasn't excessively warm.

Overall you just have to be patient with these plants.  Significant growth is noticed more in months than weeks.

Good Growing!
