there ant no dew on my cape and spoonleaf sundew

cape and spoonleaf
I just bought 2 cape sundews and 2 spoonleaf sundew and there ain't no dew on it. i don't know why this is i have done every thing that is needed to grow them. And another thing do they need a period of cold weather case when i got them they were cold. thank you, lewis

Hi Lewis,

Thanks for sending a picture.  It helps immensely.  First stop I'd like you to make is at our carepages at http://www.cobraplant.com  Look up the care information on Spoonleaf sundews and Cape sundews.

In your situation the problem is that you don't have nearly enough light on them.  Your light is a single tube, 15 watt fluorescent.  Switch over to a two-tube "shoplight" type fixture with two 40 watt tubes.  Set it on top of your tank just like you're doing.  You'll notice a dramatic improvement in your plants.  Also, see if you can ventilate the tank some.  That super high humidity will cause you mold problems over time.

On the issue of dormancy, both Cape sundews and most spoon leaf sundews are sub-tropical.  They have no real dormancy, so they don't need a cold period.
