Darlingtonia pot choice

Question
QUESTION: For pots for Darlingtonia, I know they should be short and wide.  Would a drip system that waters every day work with the cat litter pan method (I'm worried that the plant will drown in the pan)?

On another note, when will you have Darlingtonia available?

ANSWER: Hi Taylor,

The drip system works very well.  Here's the key.  Poke holes in the bottom of the litter pans.  Darlingtonia don't like to sit in water.  The circulation is key.  They like the water to be moving, not puddled the way Sarracenia do.

Check the website in May.  That is usually when we have some available.

QUESTION: how many holes should I poke at the bottom of the litter pan and how wide?  Also, do you sell orchid bark (labeled as small bark)?

Answer
Hi Taylor,

I usually take about a 1/4" drill and bore 4 holes in the bottom.  The water just needs to drain out.

The small bark is the same thing.  Orchid bark is usually small Fir bark.
