when will new pitcher forms

Question
when will a new pitcher will form on a nepenthes ventrata

Answer
Hello Aaron,

Nepenthes produce new pitchers from the leaves. When a new leaf opens at the top of a vine it will extend a tendril and grow a pitcher on the end of the tendril over time. This may take several weeks according to species. N. ventrata are fast growing Nepenthes, so you may see pitcher formation once every 3 to 6 weeks or so according to conditions. Each day, the new pitcher will grow a little until it develops coloration and opens up.
