White top Pitcher plant

Question
I am seeing a new thing happening to my plant that has never happened in the past 4 years.
Some creature (birds?) is eating into side of flower stems where the bugs are lodged. I suspect birds have found a source of food for their young in this hot weather we just had. Have you seen any of this at your nursery? I can send digital photos if you need to see this.

Answer
Hi Ron,

Sounds like you mean the pitcher leaves when you say flower stems.  The actual flower stem would be too small for a bird to do anything with, and there wouldn't be any bugs there.  Anyway birds do this all the time.  Here Robins are usually the culprit.  If the problem gets too bad bird netting might be in order.  Just being out there frequently with your plants can help also, along with encouraging your cat (if you have one) to hang out there.

Good Growing!
