first pitcher of the season ate by cat

Question
I have 3 sarracenia plants i ordered from you guys. one judith hindle, leucophylla var. 'tarnok', and exornata critron variety.
Anyways im new to growing sarracenias. all 3 plants were sending up the first pitcher of the year when my cat got the bright idea to eat them and he bit off the leucophylla pitcher and exornata critron pitcher. will that harm the plant?
so now instead of sending up one big pitcher they are sending up a dozen or so little ones. will the plants be smaller this year? i  heard that the first pitcher of the year is always the biggest. is this true?

sorry if those are dumb questions but im new to this so any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

thank you,
lance

Answer
Hi Lance,

This is nothing to be concerned about.  The Sarracenia varieties you have actually produce their best pitchers late in the season.  S. flava and S. oreophila are the early season plants.  Also, pitchers are just leaves, so as long as the rhizome hasn't been damaged, your plant is just fine.
