white stuff

Question
Flytrap
Flytrap
What is this white stuff growing on my flytrap? It seems to be only growing on the side that gets less sun. There is also stuff like that growing on my nepenthes but looks like white dots

Answer
Based on your photo, the white stuff is likely perlite deposits, which is part of the soil mix.  This occurs after a bout of heavy rain and the soil splashes on the plant.  After it dries up, it tends to leave a residue on the leaves.  We see this at our nursery as well.  You can simply wipe it off with a damp cloth.

As for the Nepenthes, I can't comment on it right now.  Could you photograph it?  That would help me figure out what it is.

Good growing!
