Natural Fires

Question
I noticed that many Dionaea were subject to fire right before their growth season, I was wondering if the chemicals in smoke induce them to grow more vigorously at all.

Answer
Hi Matt,

Many carnivorous plants from the Southeastern U.S. are subject to grass fires, so it's quite possible it is some benefit.  I know it is for Sarracenia.  I've never read any research on this, so it would be interesting to test.

Good Growing!
