Natural Woven Fencing

Question
Hello -  I am looking to construct a very rough, natural fence to serve as a
screen wall in a restaurant.  I saw photos on this website that I would love to
replicate -
http://naturalfencing.com/lev4_1_5_0_Continuous_Woven_Hazel.asp -
particularly the woven Hazel.  It doesn't seem like Hazel is indigenous to the
US (I am located in CT) so I was wondering if you knew about another tree
which would be flexible enough to be woven like the Hazel?
Thanks!
Holly

Answer
Hey, Holly.

Most of the natural fences are being used in Europe and China. We do have a lot of willow and bamboo fences out here, but even they are being imported from Europe and China.

If you're not interested in importing, you could do a plant screen instead of a fence. Some lattice with morning glory or trumpet vines or some other vine that grows well there in Connecticut could give you a very nice screen wall, albeit a little messier with dropped flowers and leaves.

Hope that helps.

Russel
