Question

self watering pot
Allexperts,

Would a plastic self watering pot okay for Cephulotus?  I planning on repotting the plant.  I have the plant currently in a african violet pot ( the one with 2 pieces).   I have a picture of an example of what I am talking about.
Location info.
Water= Distilled
lights = 40 watt tubes cfl
pot plant is in = plastic
water tray= african violet pot

Sincerely,

Weylin Callery

Answer
Hi Weylin,

I haven't used one of these pots in quite awhile.  It just depends on how wet they keep the soil.  Normally these have little feet with holes that descend down below the normal soil level into a water reservoir.  It could work just fine.  I'm just don't know about this one.

I would test it with some Cephalotus media without a plant and see how wet the soil seems over a week.  If it stays damp, but not real wet you're probably fine.

Good Growing!
