Drosera Burmannii Seeds

Question
I was wondering what the correct planting material would be for Drosera Burmannii seeds?

I moistened sphagnum moss and packed it down into one of my pots and then sprinkled the seeds on top of that. That was or a week or so ago, and I haven't seen anything growing yet. Perhaps it's just my impatience, but shouldn't there at least be tiny growths by now?

I also worry that the seeds somehow did not form completely while in the flower, although I don't know why. I waited until the entire stalk was completely brown and dried before I cut it off and took the seeds from each dried flower pod.

Thanks for your time and advice!

Answer
No need to worry about the seeds not forming completely.  As long as the pods were dry and the seeds fell out easily, you can rest assured that they well formed.

When germinating seeds of this particular species, you need to allow up to 4 weeks, sometimes 6 weeks.  Germination time is dependent on temperature and soil moisture.  When we germinate these seeds, we use a heat mat set to 75癋.  At that constant temperature, we see germination within 2-3 weeks.

With any carnivorous plant, you need a heavy dose of patience.  They don't germinate or grow like other types of plants.  Sunflowers, for example can germinate within a few days and reach flowering maturity in a few months.  This is not so with carnivorous plants.  So give your seeds more time. The lack of germination after only a week is very normal.

Good growing!
